The ELA common core appendices can be accessed at www.corestandards.org
Below are descriptions of the resources available in each one:
Appendix A- Text Complexity: It explains the research why it is important. A key requirement of the Common Core State Standards for Reading is that all students must be able to comprehend texts of steadily increasing complexity as they progress through school. By the time they complete the core, students must be able to read and comprehend independently and proficiently the kinds of complex texts commonly found in college and careers. It also addresses how text complexity can be measured and made a regular part of instruction.

Appendix B- Exemplars of Reading Text Complexity, Quality, and Range & Sample Performance Tasks Related to Core Standards. The text exemplars are supplemented by brief performance tasks that further clarify the meaning of the Standards. These sample tasks illustrate specifically the application of the Standards to texts of sufficient complexity, quality, and range.

Appendix C- Student Writing Samples by grade level that have been annotated to illustrate the criteria required to meet the Common Core State Standards (argument, informative/explanatory text, narrative). Each of the samples exhibits at least the level of quality required to meet the Writing standards for that grade
